The puppies and dogs that make up BRAD are obtained mostly from our own breeding program. Some are from rescue groups, donations, and other programs.
Our puppies are raised in loving homes by volunteer puppy raisers. They are housetrained, taught basic obedience skills, and develop excellent manners in public and at home. An important part of the Puppy Raising Program involves exposure to settings and situations they might experience during their working lives. Puppy raisers and their dogs attend weekly classes to learn the needed skills.
The aptitude, personality, health, and temperament of the puppies is continually monitored. At 18-24 months of age, the puppies return to the training facility for an intensive 6-12 month training period. Here they learn the specialized skills needed to help their future human partners.
